As I worked at my desk yesterday, I had a visitor outside my window. A squirrel sat on the outside window sill and eyed me. It was like he was watching me and what I was doing. He might have even thought, “How cute that human is.” I watched and he watched. At one point, he put his little paws on the window and looked intently through the window. It was as if we had a connection of some sort. I did not scare him. I was not a threat… maybe he knew that. It was as if we were, well, brothers for a moment. This lasted for over five minutes. When was the last time a squirrel sat still for five minutes? It was as if God was reminding me through this small part of creation that ALL creation is connected. That we are not the only beings on earth, we are not the only part of creation that matters. ALL creation is in this life together having been created by God and given the spark of the Holy Spirit. Look around you today. All you see is waiting for Jesus to return. And waiting patiently, doing what God intended for them. So today, see creation as God’s gift and God’s possession. We are God’s creation together. Read Romans 8:19-30 and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
