Admit it, some of you thought that the **** in yesterday’s title stood for something bad! It did not but often we make assumptions about what we see or hear and those assumptions get us in trouble. When I was working on my internship, my supervisor and I had many interesting conversations. One was about being trusted. I had a couple of instances when I was trusting others and they let me down and I wondered about the wisdom of being so trusting. His comment to me was that if you trust others, they will learn to trust you. He said, “Assume the best in others for God made them too.” He also reminded me about being wise. I learned to trust people and yet understand that sometimes we are surprised by others’ actions. Still, God knows us well, that we stumble and fall, that sin creeps up on us and yet we are given the message of salvation to share, the name Christian to live up to. So, children, assume the best of God’s creation and be prepared to forgive. Read Ephesians 5:1-2, 14-15 and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
