Refuge

Yesterday I lifted the top of the LP tank in our side yard.  We have not filled it for quite sometime so I wanted to check and make sure the gauge worked and all was well.  I know that wasps often build nests under these lids.  There was no wasp nest but, to my surprise, there was a nest for rodents.  What a safe place.  Not easily gotten into, made of metal, small enough for the mouse and not large enough for predators.  Cozy and warm.  There were no inhabitants in the nest but it was obvious that this was a safe have, a refuge for some animal.  It was needed in order to survive.  We, to , need such a refuge, not necessarily physical, but a spiritual, emotional refuge.  A place where we can go to survive the battles of life.  With no need to run to this place, one can find refuge through prayer and meditation and Scripture reading.   One can find the refuge of God’s loving arms anywhere: just pray.  When life gets you down, when others fail you, seek refuge in God who loves you.  Read the words to or sing “On Eagle’s Wings” and you will get the point.    Read Psalm 91 and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
