Many words have been used to try and uncover what the Star leading to Jesus was. It could have been a comet or a bright nova star or? Whatever it was, it brought magi, astrologers, astronomers, kings to the Christ Child. It led others to Jesus. Funny, but I think this is what we are supposed to do: bring others to Jesus. Often Scripture tells us that the words and, more often, the actions of the community of faith brought others into the fold. It was the love of the community for one another that set them apart from all of the rest of society. It seems that today, the Church often is the vehicle that drives others away. We want the Church to be what we want and keep it for us and only those who are just like us can get in. The Church IS us and how we are, how we treat each others and strangers often is the determining factor for anyone who finds a place to worship, who finds the Christ Child! This Christmas, let us begin to be even better, to let others see the love of Jesus in our lives and in how we treat others. This Christmas, may each of us be The Star that leads others to Jesus. Live in the light of the star… become God;s Christmas Star. Read Matthew 2:1-2, 9 and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
