Last week, I spoke with a man who wondered why his life never seemed to turn around. One bad thing after another seemed to happen in his life. He saw not connection between what happened to him and his own actions. There are things that happen in life that seem to have no correlation with our actions, coincidence if you please. Yet each action we take has consequences… good as well as bad. Our spiritual lives require us to be watchful as well. Satan is happy to have us luke-warm in our faith and questioning God’s existence and sloppy in the way we approach life. We must be vigilant. Look for the opportunities to serve God and others, and vigilant in seeing the opportunities for sin. Little things can catch us off guard and sin occurs. An angry word here, a slip of the tongue there. Our lives are filled with opportunities for good and for bad. The Good News is that God understands us and forgives when we come up short, when we are not perfect, when we sin. Thanks be to God for Grace! Today, be vigilant: do good and shun the bad and know God forgives when you make the wrong move. Read Ephesians 1:3-10 and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
