Rejoice!

We often think that the word, “rejoice” is to be reserved for Christmas or Easter.  To “Rejoice!” means to find great joy or delight in something or someone. I am finding reasons to rejoice at times and in places that I might not have expected to feel that way.  I watched JOY’s council last night.  My last meeting with them and after my report, they went about the business of the Kingdom without expecting me to be the one with answers.  They were in control and in charge, and wise.  It was a strange feeling.  It felt a little like knowing that your child is now old enough to make decisions without your input!  Yet, I am so proud of the way they worked together and discussed the ideas, and made good strong decisions.  So, today, I rejoice that God has given JOY leaders to move the ministry of the congregation forward this year and into the future.  I have also found that i feel like rejoicing at the presence of God in my life each day.  I have the energy I need, good health,,, most of the time, and good people around me to help when I need them.  I have so many reasons to rejoice, and I am taking the opportunity to say thanks to God and to… REJOICE in God’s presence, REJOICE in God’s compassion, REJOICE in God’s love.  Today, even though it is not a festival day or season in the Church year, join me, and REJOICE for God is with you!  Read Philippians 4:1-9 and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
