Wonders of Creation

Even though this is Friday, and it was Pastor Ed’s day off, I still planned to post.  Unfortunately, I had technical difficulties getting the post out.  Sorry for the delay!

One of the joys of living in the country is we get to see Sandhill Cranes during migratory season (and, sometimes, Whooping Cranes) each year.  Tuesday, as I was driving home, I saw hundreds of Sandhill Cranes in a cow pasture a couple miles from our house.  Cranes live year-round in Florida and it’s not unusual to see a flock of 3-5, but thousands of cranes migrate from Canada each year to Gainesville, FL and the cow pastures on our road are a common stopping ground coming and going for them.  These birds are 3-5 feet tall with wingspans of 5-7 feet.  What an incredible sight!!

Another joy where we live are the glorious sunsets we see most evenings with bright splashes of color filling the sky, and at night we can often see galaxies along with numerous stars.  A visiting friend from the city once asked if it ever got old seeing such beauty.  I responded without hesitation, “No!”  I often pause to let the wonder fill me and to thank God for this beautiful and wondrous creation.  I wonder if, perhaps, these gifts of beauty are small reminders God is with us and loves us.  If creation is this magnificent, how much more the Creator?!

Read Psalm 19:1-4, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally!
