Pray

In the past few months I have noticed frequently the small signs appearing in the median of the major streets and highways in and around Ocala.  One simple word, “PRAY,” written on small handmade signs.  I have no idea what person or organization made and placed these signs, but to me it is a simple reminder of our privilege to speak with our heavenly Father at any time (especially as we drive along SR-200).  In the words of  well-known hymn, “Take it to the Lord in prayer.”  This may be our troubles and trials, but it may also be our thanks and praises.  “What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.”  God has given us this invitation to come to Him in Matthew 7:7,8 and Psalm 50:15.

At times, we may feel we have no troubles or problems to pray about.  What a blessing!  Take the opportunity to thank God for that, and use the time to pray for others.  And there are moments when we feel overwhelmed with problems and don’t even know how to pray.  At a time like this, ask the Holy Spirit to pray (intercede) for you.  God knows our needs and is ready to help in His own way (“Thy will be done”).

To those individuals who placed the little PRAY signs: thank you for these reminders.  I hope that someone may be led to reach out in prayer, especially if they have not done so in a long while.  Read I Timothy 2:1 and 2:8, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
