Waiting

Waiting . . .I’m waiting this morning, a little nervous about what the next few hours will bring. We’re all familiar with waiting. We wait in the doctor’s office, the supermarket line, the dentist’s chair. We wait for sleep in the wee hours of the night. We wait for answers, we wait for relief. As we wait, our thoughts may turn inwards focusing on our fears and apprehensions. Are you too sometimes troubled in times of waiting? We’re in good company. Scripture is filled with examples of those who had to wait. Even Jesus waited. Fully aware of what his suffering would be, Jesus waited in the garden, waited in agony for the fate that He knew would be His.

God knows about our waiting, he knows when we’re afraid. And what does he reply – “Fear not!” It sounds like such a simple answer, but the words are repeated time and time again in the Scriptures. I guess God knew we would need more than one reminder to turn our eyes towards Him, to cast our cares upon Him, and to be confident that He is beside us even in our moments of anxious waiting.

“Do not be afraid, I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name, you are mine!” Read Isaiah 43:1-2 and remember God loves you when you wait, God loves you when you’re afraid, God loves you UNCONDITIONALLY!
