Adversity

Some of you know that my religion class was recently studying adversity.  One of our assignments was to use Scripture to tell how to respond to adversity.  This is my answer:

Scripture tells us to turn to God.  It’s okay to cry out to God because that’s what we are supposed to do.  The Psalms are full of assurance, and examples of what to do in times of adversity.  “The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble.” (Psalm 9:9)  Psalm 23:4 tells us that through times of trouble, God is always there for us.  Psalm 145:14 tells us that God helps us in small ways.  Proverbs 3:6 says to trust in God above everything else.  Proverbs 12:26 says, “One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.”  One way we can guide our neighbor is to comfort those who are going through something we already experienced.  Isaiah 26 tells us to trust in God throughout the hard times.  John 16:33 tells us that God is ruler above everything.  I Corinthians tells us to be faithful to God and love God because God is faith and love.

Read Psalm 23:4, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally.
