This past weekend we celebrated Mother’s Day. I lost my mom a little over 2 years ago and Mother’s Day caused me to stop and think of all the things my mom did for me. I had polio when I was just 4 months old. I spent the next 4 years of my life in a hospital where my parents could only visit me on Sunday afternoons between 1 and 4. My mom was faithful in her visits and made sure that I knew she was my mom.
When I finally came home, my mom showed me her love-she treated me the same as my other brothers and sisters. I was expected to pitch in and help like the others, even though it was hard for her to expect me to do them. My mom went out of her way to make me believe that I did not have a disability.
I thank God for a mom like that. It was the love she showed me that helped me overcome any difficulty I had. I grew up feeling like I could do anything others could! Read Romans 8:31-39, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally, like my mom loved me.
