Saturday I had the honor of serving as the unofficial photographer of Joy Lutheran Soccer’s last game of the season and Awards Ceremony. You can see pictures of the game and the ceremony here:

You don’t have to look closely to see that the players and the spectators look like what I imagine Heaven will look like. There are folks of many ages, races, and heritages glorifying God and sharing a feast. It’s been a real pleasure to attend the games and the ceremony, watching many folks from across our community come together at Joy. I believe it’s what happens when we remember our individual and collective calling to love God and our neighbors as ourselves.
What does all this have to do with calling a new Pastor? Perhaps, above all else, this is what we need in a new Pastor – someone who loves God with all their heart and soul and mind and their neighbors as themselves, and who leads us to do the same. There’s no question in my mind that if we can do all that – that’s a goal! Actually – that’s THE GOAL! Read Matthew 22: 34 – 40 and remember, God loves you UNCONDITIONALLY!
