Waiting is a walk of faith. The past few months have been a test of patience. Waiting at doctor offices, waiting for test results, waiting for response to medications, or waiting while treatments are administrated.
Waiting on the Lord
Waiting on the Lord is a sure thing. But it requires patience, perseverance in prayer, trusting God’s will. Knowing God is walking with us and will act in His own way and at His own time requires faith. At times, our faith feels a bit thin and we have to ask the Holy Spirit for an infusion of faith. We even ask for His prayers for us when we don’t know what to pray. Strengthened by Word and Sacrament, we can move forward. Our ways are not God’s ways, but God’s ways must be our ways.
The hymn that runs through my mind is:
“What a friend we have in Jesus, All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit; Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer!”*
Psalm 139 is a real lift for me. It reminds me that God loves ME and YOU unconditionally.
