Love God, Love Others & Do Stuff

Our recent cruise experience was filled with opportunities for worship, devotions, laughter, fellowship, singing, and inspirational talks and stories.  We had the opportunity to hear Laura Story, Mark Lowry and Michael W Smith speak, as well as sing.  In one of Michael’s speeches he described his friend, Bob Goff, as a cross between Mother Teresa and Tigger.  He then quoted his friend saying, “Love God, love others, and DO stuff!”  I love this.  Of course, I think of “doing stuff” as being implied in loving God and others since I consider love to be an action word, but sometimes I think we get caught up in the ideas and forget to live our faith.  The doing is not meant to be a rule, but rather a natural expression of our love.  If we truly love, we will do stuff.  Luke 10: 25-28 says:

25 Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read there?” 27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; DO THIS,* and you will live.”

Read Luke 10:25-37, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally!
