Shine Your Light

If you turned on the news last week, you saw a lot of darkness.  You may not have had to turn on the news to see it- darkness is all around.  What keeps us from being enveloped or consumed by darkness?  The Source of Light.  Jesus shows brightly in a dark world and he asks that we, too, shine our lights for everyone to see.  …”This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine….”   How?  Love.  In all circumstances; respond with love.

Martin Luther King, Jr said: “Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding a deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.  Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only love can do that.  Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.”

Take time to be with the Source of love, light and life, then go out and give love, shining your light.  If you want to know what this looks like, read the Gospel of John.  Read John 8:12-20, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally!
