A Mellow Sound

My grandfather’s clock just struck eight. That mellow tone not only told me the time but it reminded me of my Dad. He was a hobbyist who loved to repair clocks, and a woodworker who enjoyed creating cases. When he retired, his project was building a grandfather’s clock – a family heirloom that I treasure. My earthly father created a timepiece, something beautiful that will last for generations. It’s his creation, the work of his hands, and whenever I hear that mellow tone I am grateful to him.
But now it’s time to really think big about CREATION — our heavenly Father created the wonders of an entire universe! There’s beauty to behold everywhere. And like a well-oiled clock, it works perfectly, revolving and rotating. The sun and the rain come and go, the tides come in and out, the earth is replenished by plant and animal life. And man himself, created in God’s image, is a conglomerate of marvelous capabilities! God you are wondrous beyond our comprehension! Whatever we see or hear or touch – all call out for our gratitude to the Creator.

Psalm 104 is a beautiful song in praise of the Creator. You may enjoy reading verses 5-25 today. My favorite verse: “Lord you have made so many things! How wisely you have made them all!” And remember, that this almighty God of the Universe, as great and wondrous as He is, still loves you, just as you are, unconditionally!
