Do your tears flow today?

I was reading the story of a woman — a loving, caring wife who desperately wanted children. Years went by and she remained childless. Her friends were cruel with their comments and even her husband didn’t really understand her despair. One day she was crying bitterly and in her distress she prayed with all her heart that the Lord would remember her, that He would give her a son. It’s the story of Hannah, you’ll find it in 1 Samuel, chapter 1. As you read you’ll feel her pain and then rejoice with her at God’s loving kindness.

There are many among us who despair, who hurt, whose tears flow. Some have recently lost loved ones; their days ache with loneliness. Others are facing overwhelming medical issues; they suffer physically and fear the unknown days ahead. Some travel solo on life’s journey; they long for the comfort of a compassionate ear. Others endure the pain of emotional distress; they have been wounded by the thoughtless or hurtful words of someone they trusted. Sometimes when we are going through something difficult, we just don’t think anyone understands. And yes, sometimes like Hannah our tears flow.

In Psalm 25:16, David’s prayer is one that we can all share: “Turn to me, Lord, and be merciful to me, because I am lonely and weak.”

Everyone struggles at some point, but there is someone who is closer to you than a friend, a brother or a spouse . . . and He is always with you. Jesus Christ is your friend and your strength. He loves you when you are happy; He loves you when your tears flow. You can count on it! God loves you always and unconditionally.
