We eagerly await JOY’s time of transition coming to an end and our new pastor’s arrival. This is an active waiting, as we prepare for him. Committees and ministry leaders consider what he needs to know as he begins ministry with us, individuals consider how they can help Pastor Art and his family transition into our congregation, and we all consider what we can do to make him and his family feel welcome. I even heard some talk about making needed building repairs we’ve ignored far too long in anticipation of his arrival. We work together to prepare as we wait. Only a couple more weeks!
There is another we are waiting for – Christ’s coming. Christmas is only one week and a day away! How are you preparing? What are you doing to welcome Christ into your heart and home? Are you looking at your life with new eyes and seeing what needs to be repaired? Are you considering how to make Christ welcome? Are you preparing room for Christ in your life? Have you considered how you can help with Christ’s ministry? This is the kind of active waiting we need to do in this final week before Christmas.
Read Mark 1:1-8, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally!
