I have had to wear a brace my entire life due to having had polio when I was just a baby. I have managed to live a pretty normal life. Since my ability to walk depended on my brace, I became quite creative with my “ad hoc” repairs. The most useful repair tool I had was duct tape. I remember being in the middle of the Civil War battlefield at Manassas, Virginia. My friend, who I had just met a few days earlier, heard me say uh-oh and he asked me what was wrong. I calmly informed him that my brace had broken. He was not sure what to do and asked me what I needed. I told him that if he could go to my car, I had a role of duct tape in the backseat. On his way to the car he must have questioned my solution because he sent the ranger out to get me. I had him take me to my car, I reached in, grabbed the roll of tape and proceeded to make my temporary repair. My friend and the ranger laughed and couldn’t believe it. I finished the tour of the battlefield with my taped up brace.
Our faith should be our “duct tape”, to help us in all that we do, ready to be called on at all times. Paul says in Romans 5:1-3, ” Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” Let’s all strive to live our lives in this faith! Remember: God loves you unconditionally!
