When I was growing up, our family would take camping trips to various parts of the country. One year we loaded the car and left our Brooklyn Center Minnesota home for the Black Hills of western South Dakota. The drive is about 600 miles through the somewhat barren landscape of South Dakota. One of us kids said we were thirsty and my dad, who really couldn’t sing, started singing the Sons of the Pioneers song, “Cool Water.” That became a running joke in our family for the next 55 years; we even played that song at my dad’s memorial service. This Sunday’s lesson about the woman at the well got me thinking about how important it is to have water. Jesus told the woman that the water he gave would grant her a new life, no matter what she had done in the past. Read John 4. God has promised to relieve our thirst and change our lives. God continues to provide that cool, cool water of life. Remember: God loves you unconditionally!
