All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

Hymns for Little Children
This verse cannot be found in the Bible. I know because I spent some time looking for it! But it should be. It should be right there in Genesis on the seventh day, when God was finished with creation and rested. I bet He looked around and said, “Wow! This is amazing, if I do say so myself.”
Not that God was one to boast about His work; the boast comes from the reality of seeing this marvelous world. Today, I am thinking about “bright and beautiful.”
The Sun! Yesterday, the weather was just miserable-lots of rain, wind, thunder and lightning. And I had to go out in it for a doctor’s appointment. This is not a quick little walk to the garage and a hop into the car trip. It involves 25 uphill steps, carrying all my “stuff” into the wind, rain, thunder and lightning. Poor me, right?
After a two plus hour visit with the ophthalmologist, I left with an appointment for cataract surgery on both eyes in July and headed back into the wind, rain, thunder and lightning. Making the reverse trip down the 25 steps to the cottage. It wasn’t getting any better.
However, in the early evening, the sky across the lake began to clear. Bright light broke through the dark clouds. The colors were indescribable. The sunset was surely God’s message of hope for a better tomorrow after such a challenging day.
Thank you, Dear Jesus, for this wonderful gift. The bright and beautiful sun which, like You, is always with us. Like You, it lights up the world and shows us a path through troubling days into the new life which You have promised us.
Read Psalm 100, vs 1-4 and remember that God loves you unconditionally, constantly and forever.
