I sat talking with Gloria a couple of weeks ago and one thing we talked about was dying. I asked Gloria if she was ready. She hesitated only one moment and then answered, “I wouldn’t mind a little more time, but I’m ready.”
How about you? When it’s your time, how will you answer? What if your time came tomorrow? Could you say, like Gloria, “I wouldn’t mind a little more time, but I’m ready?” Are there people you need to reconcile with? Are there things you wish you could do first? Something left undone?
Gloria was ready because she had done and said everything she needed to; more importantly, Gloria was ready because she knew God was with her and leading the way. Gloria still had some fear about death– we all do– but Gloria knew she was never alone. Jesus had held his hand out for her and, in faith, Gloria took Jesus’ hand. God never let her go and walked with her each step of the way. That’s why she could answer , “I’m ready.” How about you? Have you taken Jesus’ hand? Read Romans 8:38-39, and remember: God loves YOU unconditionally!
