Oh! Why did I ever agree….?

I love the mornings but I don’t necessarily love getting up in the mornings. I really enjoy nestling in my comfy bed, listening to the lake lapping at the shore and, if it is a cool morning, pulling the covers up to my chin and getting a few more zzzzz’s.

So, this is the reason why every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I wake up at 7:00 A. M. with this whine, “Why did I ever agree to join an exercise class that meets at 8:30 in the morning and is 20 minutes away?” I often make this complaint in the form of a prayer, asking, “Dear Lord, why…?” I know, I know, you are shaking your head and wondering, “What’s wrong with this woman? Is this really a problem? “

Of course not. This is the way I try to keep in constant contact with God. This is everyday practice. For me, there is nothing too small or too large to bring to Jesus’ intercession. I don’t worry about whether God is too busy for me. I know that He is beyond my understanding, I also know that I am His.

And you know what? I regularly get an answer. It often sounds like a chuckle and goes like this: Come on, girl. You know that as soon as you get in the pool, you will feel great about being there. And after, you can enjoy a cup of coffee with those dear women who will join you this morning. It is worth getting out of bed for the experience and fellowship.

Getting the answer doesn’t make me stop the whining, however. It does give me another opportunity to appreciate the fact that God loves me, and you, unconditionally. He is always there no matter how many times I bring the same request or question to Him. Read Isaiah 49:15-16 ESV, and be consoled.
