After nine months of waiting, we got the call. The baby was coming! I packed faster than I’d ever packed in my life and we jumped in the car. We were on our way to Kentucky for the birth of our grandchild. With each mile of passing pavement (couldn’t we go faster?!) I relived the memories of my own sons’ births:
the awesome, stunning, celebration-inspired news that a child was expected,
the tears of joy and wonder that this could really be happening,
the amazing changes to my body to make room for a growing child,
the pushes and kicks of a little body within my own,
the baby showers to celebrate the new little life,
the shopping to prepare the nursery for this anticipated birth,
the mixed feelings of fear and relief when the labor pains finally began,
the overwhelming feelings of love for a child not even born yet,
the incredible, unbelievable, miraculous truth that a child is conceived and born,
the moment you know that only God could provide this precious gift of life.
And then he was placed in my arms . . . The SON of my SON.
“Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him all creatures here below.
Praise Him above all heavenly hosts,
Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost.”
God’s miracles are all around you. Remember God loves you; He loves you unconditionally.
