In the 1960’s, a popular phrase was “The devil made me do it.” Any truth to it?

Before Abba Father created Adam and Eve, He created the most beautiful Angel that ever existed, Lucifer. Because of his pride, Lucifer wanted to become God. So, he was cast out from heaven to earth.

Now called Satan, he continued his rebellion by tempting Adam and Eve. He tempted them to focus on the only thing God forbade them, taking fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It was the one thing that caused them to lose their sinless innocence. By choosing wrongly they introduced sin into a perfect creation.

In effect, they passed onto all of us a sinful nature.  They turned over rule to the Evil One, until such a time as Our Lord Jesus could wrench it back. Jesus paid the penalty for our sin on the cross and overcame death once and for all.

Today as we wrestle with temptation, it is still difficult. But, we know we are sinners redeemed by the blood sacrifice of Jesus.   This world’s rule is returned back to the “Word.” If we cry out to Jesus for help when we are tempted, we shall overcome. “The Evil One” will flee from us! Indeed Jesus rules our world! Amen?
