I think I was five years old when I received the little blue satin box for my birthday. Upon opening it, nestled inside the satin lining was a teeny, tiny mustard seed incased in a glass bubble, hung from a shiny gold chain. I was delighted! As my mother clasped the gold chain around my neck and placed a kiss on my cheek, it was the first time that I heard the story, the Parable of the Mustard Seed.
I wore it to Sunday School the next Sunday and was thrilled when the teacher noticed my necklace and called me to the front of the class to tell the story;
“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, “Move from here to there and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.” – Matthew 17:20
It may be one of the first Bible stories that I was able to retell. And I told it proudly to everyone who would listen to me.
Many years have passed, many necklaces have graced my neck, but that little gold chain with the mustard seed in the glass bubble is the one that I feel I am “wearing” every day.
And the words of the Parable have never let me down . . .
Praise God!
The Parable of the Mustard Seed is recounted five times in the Bible:
Matthew 17:20
Luke 17:5-6
Matthew 13:31-32
Mark 4:30-32
Luke 13:18-19
Remember God does love us; He truly loves you unconditionally.

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!”
He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you. Luke 17:5-6
