As I rub the sleep out of my eyes into the gift of a new day, I realize that even before my feet hit the floor, my brain is humming a sweet tune;
“Be thou my vision, O Lord of my heart,
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art –
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light”
As the world comes into focus, I inhale the words of that song.
Grateful tears seep into my eyes, cleansing all thoughts of “to-do lists” and earthly worries.
My “I” chart clears up.
Today my vision will be focused on you, Lord.
Today, I will have 20/20 vision.
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for guiding my breath throughout the night. Thank you for focusing my first thoughts of the day on Jesus. This awe-inspiring Jesus who loves me and who loves you, unconditionally.
