Become the Gift . . .

Helen Keller was incapacitated by physical blindness. It threatened to rob her of all of life’s possibilities. Every step of her life was a major challenge.

Yet she once said, “I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; I will not refuse to do the something I can do.” What a gift she was!

This week of Thanksgiving is a good time to focus on our own God-given abilities. Yes, we have weaknesses, but we also are blessed with strengths. Whether it might be a gift of physical strength, of ability in the kitchen, of skill with needle and thread, of musical talent, of compassion and understanding, of patience and kindness, of leadership, of gentleness . . . whatever it is, we thank God for blessing us so richly.

Like Helen Keller, we cannot do everything, but still we can do something!  And like her, we can be ready and willing to do the “something” that we can do.

Let’s unwrap our God-given gifts!  We give thanks that we too have a gift to share.  We give thanks for the opportunities to do so.

What a gift you are! Remember our Almighty Heavenly Father loves YOU unconditionally.
