Any of you with a hearing loss are familiar with that phrase.
I hear someone speak, but I’m just not sure what they said. Sometimes I guess. I often guess wrong. Unfortunately that really mixes up the conversation. Better to ask for a “repeat” even if it is annoying to both parties.
God speaks to us everyday. He speaks through His Word, through the voices of those around us, and through the quiet thoughts that come to us in the peace of the night.
We want to hear Him. We want to know what He is telling us. Sometimes we just don’t hear His answer. We’re not sure what He wants us to do, especially when His will runs contrary to our intentions.
What to do? We could guess. But is our guess in keeping with our will or His? Or we can pray earnestly and persistently. What did you say Lord? We want to hear You.
And wonder of wonders, our patient Heavenly Father is more than willing to listen and to guide. He isn’t annoyed by your prayers, repetitious though they may be. He loves YOU unconditionally.

Psalm 116:1-2 “ I love the Lord, for he heard my voice;
he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me,
I will call on him as long as I live.”
