My Lord, What a Morning . . .

I have a couple grandchildren who are intrigued with theater. Announce tryouts for the school musical – they’ll be there. Perhaps a trip to see a show – their names will be on the top of the list. They’ve already learned to love the feeling of being “on stage”. The lights, the music, the audience, the camaraderie of the cast – it’s a thrill that, to them, is worth all of the hours of preparation.

Maybe I’m stretching the point here, but I think we’re all preparing for our appearance on the grandest stage of all – in the awesome presence of our Almighty God!

Here we enjoy the twinkling stars and the beauty of moonlight, but the heavenly lights will far surpass anything we have known. The magic of our earthly song will pale before the glorious sound of the heavenly angels. The audience – well, our heavenly Father Himself will be there to greet us along with the saints from all the ages. And talk about camaraderie – we’ll be together, you and me, our friends, our families. It’s all beyond our wildest imagination.

For now we are here. We still have work to do for our Lord and for each other. We have victories to achieve, sorrows to endure, burdens to bear. Oh, but we’re getting ready. We have His invitation. We’ve been included. And what a day it will be when we stand on that glorious stage.

Perhaps you’re familiar with this old gospel song . . .

“My Lord, what a morning!
My Lord, what a morning!
Oh, my Lord, what a morning
when the stars begin to fall.

Oh, you will hear the trumpet sound
to wake the nations underground,
Looking to my Lord’s right hand
when the stars begin to fall.”

Remember, on that morning and on this morning, the awesome, almighty, heavenly Father loves YOU, unconditionally.  Amazing – but oh so true!

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” Revelation 21:2-3
