For forty days we walk. We walk on humbly led by the cross of Jesus. With each step we are reminded of His unimaginable love for us. With each step we are reminded of our own weakness, our fragility, our sin.
We walk towards His crucifixion. We don’t deserve His love. We can’t earn His love. We can only seek the mercy He so freely gives.
We ask Him to walk with us, to give us strength, to lift us up out of our weakness. We take only small steps. But we cannot not take these steps.
And as we walk, we know He loves us unconditionally.
Lent is a journey . . .
“I want Jesus to walk with me;
I want Jesus to walk with me;
all along my pilgrim journey,
Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.
In my trials, Lord, walk with me;
in my trials, Lord, walk with me;
when my heart is almost breaking,
Lord, I want Jesus to walk with me.”*
