In the movie “Maid in Manhattan,” Jennifer Lopez tells the Head of Security that her nickname for him is “God” because He sees everything and still smiles. This impressed me because in that type of job a person sees all kinds of nefarious behaviors and could definitely sour on life in general.

Well we learn as Christians, that our mighty all powerful God sees infinitely more sinful behavior than any security personnel. Yet it is as if He still smiles all the time, knowing that He has the solution to all the evils in this world. The solution is His Son’s sacrifice on the cross at Calvary. The solution is His unconditional love.

He explains to us in His Old Testament how evil would not be tolerated without punishment. He gave us the rule of law. But He pointed towards His New Testament. Jesus would be our Savior; we would be granted a pardon and a way back to our heavenly Father.

And so we ask for forgiveness. We ask the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts and lead us into a path of righteousness

God can smile, even seeing evil as He does. For He has freely granted us pardon and a way back to Him. A M E N?
