Jesus Loves You, This I Know …

Have you ever heard Pastor Art when he is serving communion? “This is the body of Christ, given for you.” Now, when he is serving a non-communing youngster, his words change to, “Jesus loves you…AND, He always will.” Hmm? Isn’t that unconditional love?

Think about our journey through discovering a partner in life. Guys tend to spiff up in the front of a mirror, sometimes longer than the gals. Checking to see every hair is in place, the shave smooth and practicing the smile or showing of the muscles usually goes with the prep. Ladies try on multiple outfits, fix and refix their hair and makeup. Dab on just the right fragrant scent and then the questions begin.

Will she think I am handsome? Will I say the right things? Don’t forget to open the car door. Did I remember my wallet? I hope he likes my outfit, I bought it especially for our date. Will he think I am too broad in the hips? Gosh, I hope she talks because I am feeling shy. Will she think I have bad breath?

How blessed are we that Jesus loves us and He ALWAYS will! Unconditional love! That love goes way past the physical presence we create. Our hair can be a mess. Our bodies out of shape or sculpted to a buff physique. He LOVES us. Our spirits can be crushed, our pasts riddled with wrongs and misdeeds, our souls struggling to walk the walk AND He loves us.

Some folks read every self-help book they can get their hands on. Others workout like fanatics yearning for the perfect body. Still others work from daylight until dawn for the largest nest egg reward.

Scripture reminds us to have faith like a child. Open your heart and hear Jesus loves you, and He always will. Let that pour over your head, into your thoughts, over your heart, cascading and covering you from head to toe. Unconditional love. No matter what shape your mind, body or spirt is in, He loves you ALWAYS.
