I was pondering the woman mentioned in Matthew 9:20, “Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak.”
All she needed to do was s-t-r-e-t-c-h her hand to touch the hem of Jesus’ robe. Did she first need to discuss this pending outing with her neighbors? Did she need to verify her intent with the family? Did she write out a “to-do” list of things she needed to get done on that day?
I’m believing that she did none of those things, but instead got up, put on the armor of faith and her cloak of trust and off she went in search of Jesus and the throngs following Him.
The story Matthew writes is thought provoking and inspiring to me because I realize her efforts were minimal. She did not ask for a counseling session to be scheduled with Jesus, or a private time to chat about her twelve year dilemma, but rather she s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d herself to a mere touch of His hem. WOW! That is powerful. If we would but s-t-r-e-t-c-h ourselves for a snip, a bit, a mere touch of Jesus and His word, look what could happen.
Jesus power transcended from Him through her and she was healed. Can you see her cartwheeling with a smile all the way back home? The joy, the unconditional love, the healing, the peace were a mighty gift from her s-t-r-e-t-c-h of belief.
Why not allow our dear Lord to cause cartwheels in your life? S-t-r-e-t-c-h your faith, reach out and touch His hem. Allow your body, soul and spirit to feel His healing touch. He loves you, unconditionally!
