Out of the Mouths of Babes . . .

My granddaughter is eight. She regularly attends a Roman Catholic Church with her family. Along the way her Dad had told her that priests could not be married. He had explained to her (in 8 year old terms) that before a priest could be ordained, he took a vow of celibacy.

But things were to get very puzzling for the poor little girl. You see, I attended Easter worship with them this year. Now, I always wear my cross when I am with her. When we visit I like to sing Christian songs and hymns for her and often explain bible passages about God’s love.

She thought about this and then went to her Dad, adamantly insisting that he was wrong about priests not being married. After all, “Grandpa Joey is a priest and he is married!!!”

Well I did wear a cross; I always went to church; and I talked about God!

I learned that she was watching and she was listening. I thought about our call to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Remember, God loves YOU, unconditionally.

Maranatha,

Joey

“Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the LORD.” Ephesians 6:4
