It can be intensely difficult when a loved one suffers, especially if we are the caregiver. We try so hard but feel so helpless. If only we could say the right thing, do the best thing, cook the most comforting food, find the perfect doctor – ah, then all would be well. Or so we tell ourselves.
As a care-giver, we feel responsible for our loved one’s well-being. Perhaps we take that responsibility way too far. We want so much to see them healed, that we feel accountable for making it happen. We may even feel guilty if they aren’t restored to health – there must have been something we should have done.
We pray fervently for our loved one’s healing. Sometimes we tell God just exactly what to do and when . . . . as soon as possible, Lord! Oops, but it doesn’t work that way.
We ask questions: Why God? When God? But He answers in His time – not ours.
We can’t figure everything out, but we can trust in His goodness even when we don’t understand.
We want answers, when He wants us to listen quietly to hear His still small voice.
Remember your heavenly Father is with you in all circumstances, no matter how bleak the day may be. He welcomes your prayers. He listens. He cares. He will comfort you. He will give you strength.
You can count on that, because He loves you unconditionally.
