Play Ball

“For it’s one, two, three strikes you’re out at the old ball game .”

I’m so glad God is not an umpire . .
It’s early in the morning and I’m already stressed with the busy day ahead. So many places to go, people to see, decisions to be made, priorities to sort.
Strike One!
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do and He will establish your plans.” – Proverbs 16:3

I look at the pitcher, at his strength, his accuracy, his speed. I freeze. I’m afraid to swing. I let so many opportunities scare me without consulting with you, Dear Lord.
Strike Two !
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me? – Psalm 118:6

I’ve heard it over and over again . . “Keep your eye on the ball.” I just can’t seem to do it. I want to see how far I can go. I want to do it myself. I want to know what the ending will be.
Strike Three!
“Be strong and be courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged . . . for there is a greater power with us” – 2 Chronicles 32:2

My heavenly umpire never calls me out . . .
I know He will call me “Safe” at home.

“Consider it pure joy my brothers and sisters whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” – James 1:2-4
