Bedtime

“Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.
God bless, Mommy and Dayle (my brother). Amen.”

Having omitted my dad from the end blessing, my mother questioned me. “What about Daddy?” My reply (and I was 4 years old) was that I thought he was old enough to take care of himself. Lol

Thinking back on fond memories of childhood and that incident specifically, I wondered how many of us, believe we are big enough to take care of ourselves. Do you need God?

Many folks have wants and needs and have no hesitation about rattling off their requests to God. I believe He wants to hear from us, and we are allowed to rattle on and on or simply sigh in the spirit of thoughtfulness.

Prayer is keeping us in connection with Him, acknowledging a power greater than ourselves. He never drops the connection. He is always there. It is us, who choose to be busy or drop the connectivity. Jesus gave us The Lord’s Prayer as a perfect connector to Him.

Some folks meander through their days with a rare, if any, thought of connecting to God. He wants to hear from His children. I believe His favorite prayers are us spending time in praise and thanksgiving. He has given us our very life and breath and His creation to live in with His many gifts. Our thanks should be without ceasing. So much has been given to us!

In faith, continue the talk, chat, discourse, and thoughts, The Holy Spirit loves our connected-ness. We are loved unconditionally! Don’t limit yourself to a prayer at meals, a bedtime prayer, or frantic need prayers, but keep your level of connected-ness strong and faith-filled, full of thanks and honor and praise throughout your day.
