I do. I love to knit. I anticipate my knitting time with eagerness. It is meditative, relaxing and allows me to remove worries and anxiety from my thoughts. When I feel low, I look to my yarn supply and think about what I can do with it. Or I might treat myself to a new skein of yarn. Even a little ball of cotton yarn for a new dishcloth is a small, simple cure.
I love the colors, texture and feel of yarn. I love looking at knitting books and magazines and thinking about what I can make and for whom. I will never do all the knitting projects that I have planned. Sometimes, I knit scarves, sometimes hats, sometimes little doll clothes or baby sweaters. Afghans and prayer shawls are also on my list of enjoyable tasks.
Yes, I am known for having a project with me wherever I go. I knit without regret or apology. It is my passion. I love sharing this passion with others and with God.
One of my current works is a prayer shawl. When knitting a prayer shawl, one prays for the person who will receive it. Asking the Ultimate Cure Giver, Jesus Christ, to be present in healing for whatever needs the receiver has. I don’t presume to know what those needs are, but I trust that the Lord God who loves each of us unconditionally does know.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Colossians 2:1-23 that we are “knit together in love.” Paul acknowledges that while there is struggle in life, with Christ as our focal point, there is reward beyond words. Please read the whole passage and be assured, once again, of the unconditional love God has for His children.
We are knit together in love with Jesus Christ – always. How beautiful!
