Built on the Rock

Blessings abound! Are you breathing? Do you have your eyesight? Can you hear? Are you able to walk? I know, they are the basics of life, but what a gift to us from our heavenly Father.

If you are reading this blog and age has crept up on you, you might find yourself as the matriarch or patriarch of your family now, that too, is a blessing. Some of those basics may be comprised, but God is still your companion.

With age comes wisdom. Life is a journey and definitely what we choose to make of the twisting path. Do you see the blessings on your walk through life, or only focus on the stumbles and rough patches? No one skates through their time on earth with a free ticket of pure bliss, but everyone can have the gift of seeking God to be their partner on the journey.

I remember first reading as a young person the verse regarding building on the rock, to hold you steadfast when the storms come. I think as a confirmand, I read that verse as, IF the storms come instead of WHEN the storms come.

“Leave it to Beaver” was my childhood, so filled with blessings and comfort. I believed I was holding any storms, rough patches on my life’s journey, at bay, trusting during my innocence, I would be unscathed by life’s turmoil. Oh silly me!

Storms can pack a wallop and there can be more than one horrific storm to batter you on your journey of life. Here’s the catch…if you have BUILT your faith on the rock, enveloping yourself with the love of Christ and the trust in God’s merciful guidance, you will survive WHEN your storms come. You will feel the blessing of knowing you were never alone during the tumult or the bliss of your journeys. What a gift from a God who loves us unconditionally!

Thank you for the reminder of WHEN the storms come, not IF, as they are MOST definitely going to come. Trust in HIM insures we will get through the storms in HIS best possible way.

    Blessings,
    Cindy
