As a child, I “grew into” my new school clothes.
Would they last through the school year before my toes were cramped and crunched into the front of my sneakers? Would the hems of my skirts shrink to a dangerous length above my knees?
As an adult, I’m more likely to “grow out of” my clothes as I give in to one more piece of chocolate or a cookie or potato chips or . . .
Jesus, I want you to smile as you watch me grow . . .
Can you see me shed the tight clothes of anxiety?
Can you see me pack away the constricting shirt of self-doubt?
Can you see me button up my lips of criticism?
I am growing, Lord.
Every day I am growing more aware of you.
Every month I am growing more dependent on you.
Every year, I realize that I will never “outgrow” my need for you.
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” – 2 Peter 3:18
