I am by no meansa Biblical scholar but must admit to finding some of the Biblical figures ultra-intriguing.
Did you grow up in Sunday School, going to church as a family? (that was my experience) Did you find Christianity during college years? (several of my friends did) Did a neighbor or friend invite you to church and you learned of Jesus as an adult?
Personally, I never remember a time that Jesus wasn’t a part of my life. We were a God-based home. (Thanks Mom and Dad for sharing your faith.)
But do I have an attitude? Curiously, learning about Elijah always stirred up a mental picture of a long white beard, robes, maybe a turban, desert garb and notably, his attitude. Elijah wasn’t afforded the luxury of growing up in Sunday School with God, yet He listened and was a faithful prophet of God’s directions. He had ATTITUDE. He was fed by ravens. His flour and oil did not run out. He performed miracles. He brought down kings, helped widows; followed God’s every command of him, even meeting Him on Mount Sinai. Relentless. Filled with ATTITUDE for forging into the wilderness or wherever God sent him.
Elijah prophesied. He listened to God’s still small voice. He took direction, changed weather, spread God’s will to many throughout the area and all with determination and ATTITUDE.
Do you have anattitude for God? Are you listening for His direction in your life? Do you spread the Good News of our Lord? Are you steadfast and determined to meet each day with an ATTITUDE for God? He loves you unconditionally and wants you to greet each day with a strong effort to do His will.
Shoulders back. Head up. Breathe in Him. Smile. Get your attitude ready to hear His still small voice and announce the gift of love and God’s grace for our lives.
