Don’t Be Fooled . . .

I would jump out of bed and rush to the kitchen.
“Oh daddy, there’s a spider in my cereal!  April Fools!”
Such was the ingenuity of my juvenile pranks on April Fool’s Day.
It was a day for silly pranks; it was fun.

Today’s culture seems filled with people trying to fool us.
Robo calls that claim to relate to our bank account or credit card.
Advertisements with exaggerated claims about the benefits of their product.
Even preachers who harangue us about the dangers of hellfire if we don’t support their mission.

But when it comes to the Word of our Lord, Jesus says “Watch out; don’t be fooled. Many men, claiming to speak for me, will come and say, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time has come!’ But don’t follow them.” Luke 21:8.

In this troubled world, there is one thing of which we can be certain. We have one God! Our God lives. Our God is good. Our God is faithful. Our God holds us fast when we walk through the storms of life. Our God’s love for us is unconditional.
