“Blessed are those who dwell in your house;
they are ever praising you.” Psalm 84:4
Have you ever felt like singing out for joy to the Lord at the end of a long and difficult trip? Or after completing a challenging task? That is exactly what this pilgrim did upon arriving at the Temple in Jerusalem. Sometimes, there is an irresistible need to sing out our thanks for the gifts we have been given.
In this quote from Psalm 84, a spirit-filled traveler observes the blessedness of those who dwell in the House of the Lord (vv. 1-4). These are the folks who spend their days in prayer and devotion to God.
He affirms the blessedness of those coming to the Temple to worship (vv. 5-7). The ones who make the extra effort to travel to Temple through the desert and barren ways.
Finally, he acclaims the blessedness of all who trust in the Lord (vv. 8-12). He acknowledges that “no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless”.
It is a wonderful song of praise for God and a strong validation for those who follow His ways. Sing out whenever you feel the spirit move you! God loves your voice and your words of praise. Most of all, He loves you unconditionally!
