During Advent Season, we are given a chance to again be amazed at the specialness, the holiness of Mary. I have tried to imagine being greeted by an angel. She was so young. Surely she was frightened; taken aback, flabbergasted at the news she was given.
Women carrying a child are usually fully aware of the miracle growing within them, but they are also human and respond to the uncomfortableness, the sickness, the interrupted sleep pattern and so much more in the pregnancy process. All of the issues seem to fade quickly when the precious baby is put in their arms.
My own mother, now gone from us for almost nine years, was my angel. She collected angels and certainly personified them in my eyes. How I daily miss her strength; her wisdom; her humor; her guidance; her faith and so much more!
As a mother myself, do my boys see strength, wisdom, humor, guidance and faith? Are they aware that I treasure them as gifts loaned to me by God? They are His, of course, but loaned to us to raise and nurture.
Motherhood is a blessed position to hold.
God touched Mary’s heart and gave her the gift of our Savior. She nurtured and raised Him and we are the recipients of that gift. How rich are we that He loves us unconditionally!
Love your mothers. Remember them fondly as their journey through motherhood was meant to be a blessing and that blessing is YOU!
