Earworm

It’s still dark out.

Way too early to get out of bed.

And yet this song won’t get out of my ears . . .
The old 1974 Karen Carpenter hit, “Close to You.”

Over and over, the lilting tune calls to me . . .
Until the words take on meaning and I open my eyes.

I hear you, God.

“Close to YOU.”

Prayers to You have not even formed in my early-morning mind,
Yet YOU have started my day by calling to me,
Singing to me.

We’re humming together, Lord.

It’s going to be a great day!

“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8

He loves us unconditionally.
