Round 1: Fear nudges you.
Round 2: Fear begins to take up space in your mind and thoughts.
Round 3: Fear chomps down and takes hold of you.
Where is your faith? Remembering the story from Matthew 8 about Jesus in the boat with His disciples when the storm raged, the disciples seemed to be terror stricken with fear. Jesus chastised them, commenting on their “little faith” and He rebuked the storm, so the seas and wind were calm.
When life is rolling along pleasantly, it seems so easy to speak “faith.” When a hurdle is placed before us (storms, illness, lack, loss etc.), how quickly does faith disappear?
Fear is powerful. Fear can consume you and take your mind, body and spirit into a deep plunge. A panic/anxiety/fear disorder consumed my oldest son at one point in his life. This “fear take over” debilitated him to the point of agoraphobia and being housebound for twelve years.
God, who loves him unconditionally, broke through the doors of that fear and allowed faith to take its place. Just as Jesus broke the grip of fear in His disciples and showed them the power of faith, so it has been for Tim.
I watch in awe, as our loving Father, continues to bless Tim with a renewed strength and fortitude that is God-filled and faith-based.
Is fear powerful? Yes, it can be very powerful, but our God’s unconditional love and caring spirit can restore our faith to a power mightier than any “fear” that threatens to invade.
Round 4: Faith WINS!
Allow faith to be in your Round 1 and save yourself the knock down from fear.
Trust God’s unconditional love for you. Do not let fear be your sparring partner, rope faith into the ring of life with you.
