This is not funny but cartoons and flippant jokes sometimes show spouses “listening” to one another but instead of the conversation, they are depicted as only hearing BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Sometimes my conversations with God are so swift, I am mid-prayer and drift off to sleep at night, or when chatting with Him while driving, I am stopped mid-thought by traffic concerns. There are times where I am fully awake and engaged in my prayers and I find myself going on and on and on. Is God hearing BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH?
My belief is that He is pleased with the connection whenever, wherever and however long I am engaged with Him. Hearing BLAH BLAH BLAH may not exist for our Heavenly Father. He loves our conversation with Him. He awaits our connectivity. He is never too busy, too involved, or too distracted to listen. Our murmurings, our thoughts, our audible prayers are all pleasing, even BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH because it is the connectivity that matters. Knowing our source and seeking our Lord is what most important.
Paul in 1 Thessalonians teaches us to “pray without ceasing.” This given direction of “constantly praying” lends itself to hearing BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH. However, The Greek word for “without ceasing” in 1 Thessalonian 5:17 is adialeiptos, it doesn’t mean nonstop —actually it means “constantly recurring.” Knowing this true meaning helps us understand that it is the connection from our spiritual self to our Father that needs to continue to happen. Whatever the form, formal or informal, lengthy or short, the connection is not received as BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH but rather as our Lord loving us unconditionally.
