Bob Dylan, in 1964, wrote the song, TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN’. That certainly is true about banking. Moving into my first apartment as a young adult, I remember following my mother’s practice of filling budget envelopes with cash, so when my rent or bills came due, the monies were there and ready for the payment(s) to be made. Ah, times they were a changin’ because I was then able to deposit and withdraw monies from a conveniently located ATM machine. Way cool and so EASY! Fast forward to online banking and transferring money, paying bills, checking your statement, getting a loan, setting up savings accounts and so much more are now click click click…done! You can do all of this from your smartphone, on your smart pad, your desktop PC, in your jammies, anytime night or day.
Thinking about the convenience of these tasks being so incredibly easy, I imagined Jesus saying (Matthew 7:7), “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
The Psalmist reminds us in Psalm 139, we were known since He formed us in our mother’s womb. He knows our thoughts. How wonderful! No smartphone connection needed; He is a breath away. Closer than our thoughts. No clicking necessary. Times they did change, we do not have to search and seek Him through the hills and valleys of Galilee or Nazareth. He lives within! He loves us unconditionally. The price has been paid by His suffering and death. Put Him on speed dial within your heart, mind and soul. Cash in your sins. Repent. Give thanks. Your life will be will be changed for the good. Redeem your blessings!
