I confess I adapted this from a blog which I wrote last August.
Do you remember picking up your phone and hearing the familiar words of the operator, “Number please?” You gave the number and you were connected. Even a little child like me could do that.
Grandma was blind. She spent her days sitting in her Morris chair in the kitchen. But she could pick up her phone. She knew the numbers for her family. She could speak to the operator to be “connected.” Then came the arrival of the first rotary dial phone. The operators were gone. But Grandma couldn’t see to dial those numbers. She could no longer “connect” to family and friends. Her communication was stymied by a new phone.
Technology has improved tremendously since those days, but still my communication is sometimes thwarted. What if our phone lines were never downed in a bad storm? What if we were never caught with a battery that needed replacement? What if there was no concern over range of service when we moved from one area to another? What if we never heard those tiresome words, “Please stay on the line, your call is important to us?” What if communication was always easy, wide-open, direct, available, and answered immediately? Sounds good to me!
Oh, but it is! Our heavenly Father always welcomes our call. He is always ready to hear us. Just speak the word! The miraculous pathway of prayer is ALWAYS open. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” 1 John 5:14
Our loving God is always waiting for your prayer. Why? Because he loves you unconditionally.
